about
'MOTHMAN' is a song about fear.
Struggling with OCD it can feel like the world is constantly throwing you battles, and you become terrified of making a mistake during these challenges.
Through a gothic soundscape and ethereal vocals, I express this fear like a repetitive warning cry, akin to the Mothman, a creature that warned people of coming danger. May this song remind you that, although it is scary, you can exorcise your fears and rise above, “like a moth and yearn”.
lyrics
Please see me
Please see me
Listen to me
Fucking bleeding
I thought I would never fear anymore
But now I’m crying on the floor
I’ve been broken to my core
And the universe keeps on wanting more
From me, I will never be free it seems
The tears down my face, they continue to stream
Keep cutting up my wrist to break the seams
Release me from this nightmare, I want to dream
It’s flooding again, now I cannot pretend
I’m scared that it is finally the end
But things keep happening on and on, I need help
But how do I get it when I’m all by myself?
Paranoid, empty shell
Fill the void with a firey hell
Is it a warning from the universe?
My whole life feels just like a curse
I don’t understand why I deserve
To feel so much pain when I just want to swerve
Every decision made with best intention
But the result leaves me just with rumination
Terrified of taking the wrong turn
Make a mistake and never learn
I want to spread my wings like a moth and yearn
Retreat into the night, never return
Is it real responsibility? I can’t discern
Thought the bridge had fallen, broken and burned
The past still returns and I cannot cope
Paralysing my mind and I’ve lost hope
Please see me
Please see me
Listen to me
Fucking bleeding

Slow-burning, sax-enhanced groovy psychedelic rock with warm male vocals counterpointed by female ones ranging from the biting to the spiritual to the tribal. Makes me think of a lighter and way more transcendental version of early Goat.
However, looking at the other comments, it seems that this music has got the power to bring to mind very different things to different people, and this means that there's definitely something unique and great going on. muschiosauro
